Piezocision – Accelerated Orthodontics
Piezocision is a method of accelerating orthodontic treatment that involves making incisions in the cortical bone of the alveolar processes using a device called a Piezotome. This technique can be combined with both soft and hard tissue grafts, which additionally increases the volume of the alveolar process. After the procedure, the spongy bone of the process undergoes rapid remodeling, resulting in much faster tooth movement. This leads to more frequent activation appointments for the orthodontic appliance and, consequently, faster tooth displacement compared to conventional treatment. One significant advantage of Piezocision is its minimally invasive nature, which doesn’t affect the patient’s appearance.
