Dental Implants

An implant is a type of screw that is placed in the jawbone. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all teeth. The goal of tooth replacement in dentistry is to restore both function and aesthetics. Dental implants are so similar in appearance and functionality to natural teeth that the difference between them is practically imperceptible
HOW DOES THE DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT PROCEDURE LOOK LIKE?
An implant consists of three parts: the root, the abutment, and the prosthetic crown. Dental implants are made from biocompatible materials that ensure excellent integration with the bone tissue, allowing them to be easily accepted by the body. The procedure of tooth implantation involves placing a special post (implant) in the area of the missing tooth. Abutments are placed on the implants, followed by prosthetic crowns. This way, a professionally placed implant provides a very durable and aesthetic solution for many years. Dental implants are an excellent option in cases of intolerance to dentures.
CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT
Dental implant placement is one of the most reliable and aesthetically pleasing methods to replace missing teeth in the oral cavity. However, there are individuals who, due to their poor health condition, cannot undergo implant treatment. Such contraindications include untreated cavities and periodontitis. Infections located around teeth in pockets can spread to the implant area and hinder its proper stabilization process. Serious obstacles can also include infections in the maxillary sinuses, bacterial and viral inflammatory conditions of the oral mucosa. Dental implant treatment is possible only after the completion of the growth and development period of the jaw and maxilla bones, which is why implant placement is recommended after the age of 18. Other general contraindications include: alcoholism, mental disorders, drug addiction, overall poor health, urinary tract diseases, cardiovascular diseases, bruxism, and smoking.
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IMPLANTS AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
In the first few days after the procedure, it is advisable to avoid consuming hard and hot foods. Light meals that do not burden the teeth are recommended. After each meal, rinse the mouth with lukewarm water and use an antiseptic mouthwash several times a day. Also, remember to brush your teeth regularly with a soft toothbrush. Avoid smoking and consuming alcohol. Additionally, it’s important to regularly visit the dentist for implant check-ups and cleaning.
